The Colts are open for business and Jonathan Taylor could be the next casualty of their midseason fire sale. The Colts are 2-6 this season, have lost four games in a row, including a 42-7 beatdown Sunday, and already traded two Pro Bowlers last week.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport reported over the weekend that the Colts would be active in talks with other teams regarding Taylor as we near the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline.
The trade rumors have pushed prediction markets into a frenzy with more the $1.3 million in volume traded on Taylor’s next destination since the market opened on Oct. 20.
Jonathan Taylor next team odds
| Team | Odds |
|---|---|
| Broncos | 29 percent |
| Seahawks | 22 percent |
| Vikings | 17 percent |
| Colts | 17 percent |
| Giants | 16 percent |
Any team can use a running back of Taylor’s caliber, but several teams are in desperate need of a boost in their rushing attack.
The Seahawks, Giants and Broncos top the list of teams that traders have been targeting at Kalshi and there is some overlap between that list and reporting from NFL insiders.
According to Schefter and Rapoport, the Broncos and Giants are among a group of teams that has reached out to the Colts, along with the Packers and Vikings.
The Packers rank last in rushing yards per game this season with a paltry 60.6 yards gained per contest, nearly 17 yards worse than the team just ahead of them. The Broncos rank 26th in rushing yards and have as many touchdowns as a team (eight) as Taylor has by himself this season.
The Seahawks lost Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker in the offseason and Zach Charbonnet makes his season debut on “Monday Night Football” after recovering from a knee injury. Their running attack fell from top-10 last season to 18th and had become a glaring weakness for their offense.
Betting on the NFL?
The Giants’ interest, which was confirmed by the Post, is also intriguing as they sit atop a struggling NFC East division. They already swung a trade for J.J. McCarthy who was a distressed asset with the Vikings and that seems to be working out in the favor after one game.
Their running game has been solid, but Taylor would be a massive upgrade over Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary.
There’s always a chance that the Colts keep Taylor past the deadline and look to make a deal in the offseason, but the rumors are growing louder by the day.
