Katie Price and Kieran Hayler’s relationship was plagued with problems from the start
With two failed marriages under her belt, Katie Price had hoped she’d found the one with Kieran Hayler as they tied the knot in a secret intimate Bahamas beach ceremony in 2013.
However, the couple faced problems since the start. Following multiple affairs and a bitter years-long divorce, Katie stood in court this month to give evidence as Kieran was accused of three counts of rape and one of sexual assault against a 13-year-old girl.
The former stripper, 39, was found not guilty of the four charges by a jury. He was also cleared of four alternative counts of sexual activity with a child.
His turbulent relationship with media personality Katie was laid bare during proceedings as he accused his ex-wife of setting him up with “fabricated” allegations and called it a “smear campaign” against him. But the celebrity witness denied being “angry and vengeful” towards her ex-husband.
How did Kieran and Katie first meet?
Little is known about Kieran before his relationship with Katie Price other than he was a builder and part-time stripper.
During his 20s, he was employed by the Adonis Cabaret troupe and appeared in two episdoes of EastEnders, stripping off at both Heather Trott’s hen party and Christian Clarke’s stag do. He also stripped off during an appearance on panel show Argumental while wearing just a naval officer’s hat.
Katie and Kieran were first spotted together at a charity ladies’ night, with the stripper posting a photo of them kissing online and writing: “I couldn’t be happier in my life right now!”
The former glamour model had split from fiancé Leandro Penna less than two months prior when she and Kieran first met on online chat service Blackberry Messenger.
Following a shopping trip to Bluewater in Kent, Kieran gushed about Katie and wrote on social media: “Had fun with my baby girl Miss Katie Price.”
Katie also paid Hayler a visit while he performed at a children’s charity in Sussex in December 2012.
Katie and Kieran’s whirlwind wedding and first affair scandal
The couple enjoyed a whirlwind romance; Kieran proposed mere weeks after they met on Christmas Day in 2012. They decided to waste no time and married on January 16, 2013 during a secret ceremony at the Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort and Spa in front of just six guests.
Just a month later, Katie became pregnant with her fourth child and the couple had their marriage blessed in March. Katie and Kieran celebrated with a Willy Wonka-themed party attended by reality stars including Lauren Goodger, Rylan Clark and Danielle Lloyd.
But Katie and Kieran’s relationship quickly unravelled following the revelation that Kieran had cheated on her in May 2014.
With little warning, Katie dropped the bombshell that Kieran had cheated on her with her best friend Jane Pountney. She wrote on Twitter, now known as X, at the time: “@kieran0322 has confessed this today they are both lying cheating c**ts.”
The revelation came just days after Katie revealed that she was expecting their second child. She said she discovered she was six months pregnant while on holiday in Cape Verde after visiting doctors as she felt unwell.
She also raged on Twitter: “@kieron0322 and the w**** were f****** all through France they been f****** in my house the whole time even when I was home.”
It later emerged that the affair had lasted over seven months, starting in September 2013 and involved a number of secret trysts in the stables and car parks.
What did Kieran say about the affair?
Kieran spoke out for the first time about the affair in May 2014 and revealed Katie had begun to suspect that something was going on but he told her it was in her head.
During a tell-all interview with The Sun on Sunday, he said that he began messaging Jane in May 2013 but that their affair didn’t turn physical until September of that year, just a month after Katie gave birth.
“I arrived in my Ford Focus after work and she arrived in her Ford Fiesta. I got in her car and we talked and kissed for 10 minutes,” he said of his first meeting with Jane in a car park. He went on to say that every meeting they had afterward was sexual.
He added: “I didn’t wear a condom because it added to the risk and my heart rate was always racing.”
Their affairs moved on from the car parks to the stables at Katie’s home. Kieran confessed of one night after a party: “It was around 1am and I was hammered from drinking Porn Star Martinis. I headed up to the stables where a friend of mine was meant to be staying and Jane followed me. We had sex standing up.”
Despite Katie becoming suspicious of his relationship with her best friend, Kieran carried on the affair. It all came to a head when Katie invited Jane and her husband along to a family. Katie’s suspicions were finally confirmed when she caught Kieran and Jane on the beach. “Jane put her hand down my trousers and Kate came out of nowhere. All I heard was Kate calling her a slut and a whore,” he said.
Katie physically clashed with Jane before hotel and security staff were forced to intervene.
The former glamour model announced their separation on Twitter, but they later briefly reconciled.
Sex addiction claims
At the time, Kieran claimed he had a sex addiction and in June 2014, began seeing a therapist in a desperate attempt to mend his relationship with Katie.
However, it later emerged that Kieran had cheated on Katie with another of her friends, Chrissy Thomas. Despite the latest revelation, she vowed to stick by him.
They renewed their vows during their second wedding anniversary in February 2015. In her speech, Katie blasted his numerous affairs while Kieran apologised for being unfaithful.
Over 12 years later, Kieran said in court during his rape trial that the sex addiction was made up for “publicity”.
He told jurors he made up having a sex addiction after Katie and her management “created a narrative” to generate headlines and income from the publicity.
He said it was also to save Katie the “embarrassment” of him having cheated on her with their nanny.
Mr Richter said Hayler, in a 2017 interview with the Sun newspaper, stated: “Nobody wants to be a sex addict, nobody wants to cheat on their wife, but in that situation I haven’t been able to help that.”
When asked why he did it, Kieran said: “It affected my life by talking about it. Kate decided that’s what we’re going to run with.”
The prosecutor said in the article he goes “out of his way” to say Katie “isn’t a liar”.
Hayler said of the sex addiction claim: “It was just made-up publicity, as with all of Kate’s life.”
Katie and Kieran’s turbulent marriage and final split
Katie declared in June 2016 that the old Kieran was “dead” and that he was a new man after his therapy. She had been appearing on Loose Women as they discussed whether it was “weak” to take back a cheating partner. Katie claimed it was the “best thing” she ever did.
She said: “Everyone now says they can’t believe it’s been over two years. They can see a change and they can see a change in Kieran.”
The mum-of-five later took a break from the ITV daytime show to work on her marriage with Kieran.
Things between Kieran and Katie became even rockier, with Katie drunkenly declaring that Dane Bowers was the “love of her life” at a Christmas party she was paid to host in December that year.
She later announced that she was going sober but was spotted drinking in a Miami nightclub in May 2017 and was rumoured to have kissed another man.
Just weeks later, Kieran and Katie appeared on Loose Women together as he called her his “guardian angel” and spoke about how he hadn’t had sex therapy over the last year.
Yet, as their TV show My Crazy Life aired in July 2017, Katie’s texts to DJ Tom Zanetti were exposed. Kieran said at the time: “She sent loads of messages last year to Tom Zanetti describing how much she loved him… how much she wanted to change her name to his name when they got married and had kids.
“I caught her out three times. The third time her phone was in the front of the car and on the front of the screen I saw a message from Rebecca Botox Manchester but the picture was of Tom Zanetti. She’d changed his name to a woman’s name so I didn’t notice.”
In response, Katie said: “Do I feel bad? No, I don’t really. At the end of the day I didn’t do anything with him unlike Kieran who cheated on me. It was just flirty texts.”
She also openly stated that she fancied Love Island star Chris Hughes during his appearance on Loose Women while she was a panellist on July 20 2017.
She joked that Chris was “going to be [her] next husband” and then questioned him on tension with then-girlfriend Olivia Attwood, warning that Olivia would get jealous when he went out for PAs at clubs.
But that wasn’t the end to Katie’s fascination with Chris, as reports told later how she had been sending him “inappropriate” direct messages on Twitter.
“He was completely knocked backwards by Katie’s messages,” a source told The Sun.
“He’s only met her once but clearly left a lasting impression. Katie has no shame and she’ll gladly flirt up a storm and insist it’s harmless. But given she’s a married woman, it’s all very unsettling for Chris.”
In August 2017, Katie confirmed that she was divorcing Kieran after exposing his affair with their nanny Nikki Brown. She had discovered the affair through emails on his phone.
She told The Sun: “The first time out found out he cheated, I felt so heartbroken. This time it was just pure anger. I haven’t cried yet because I’m still in shock. I feel numb, I can’t believe he’s done it again.”
Initially, the affair was denied by both Kieran and Nikki. However, Kieran admitted he’d suffered a relapse with his sex addiction.
He told The Sun on Sunday: “This wasn’t a big love affair, I didn’t fancy Nikki. I’m a sex addict and needed a thrill. If our nanny had been 80 I’d probably have tried to manipulate her into having sex too.”
Katie’s bitter relationship with Kieran’s ex Michelle Penticost
Animosity intensified between Katie and Kieran following their split, and particularly ramped up after Kieran began dating Michelle Penticost in July 2018.
Kieran and Michelle first met at their children’s school gates and went public with their romance in August 2018.
During this time, Katie struck up a romance with personal trainer Kris Boyson. However, her relationship with Michelle got off to a bad start after the former glamour model hurled a “tirade of abuse” at the other mum during a foul-mouthed rant in front of shocked schoolchildren in September 2018.
Katie later pled guilty in court to using abusive and threatening behaviour towards her ex-husband’s then-girlfriend. She was fined £415 and banned from contacting Michelle for five years by the magistrate.
In court, Michelle claimed that Katie would “verbally abuse” Ms Pentecost to Mr Hayler when they spoke, asking “why he’s with me instead of her”, she said, adding: “The constant attack is wearing me down.
“I just want to be able to live a normal life.”
In May 2022, Katie pled guilty to breaching the restraining order after texting Kieran and calling Michelle a “c***ing w***e piece of s***” and a “gutter s**g” in January of that year. Sjhe was later arrested by police and spent 12 hours in a cell.
The mum-of-five escaped jail during sentencing and was handed an 18-month community order at Lewes Crown Court to carry out 170 hours of unpaid work.
What did Katie and Kieran say about each other in court?
Kieran was acquitted of raping and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl when he was married to Katie following a weeks-long trial.
The 39-year-old accused the former glamour model of setting him up with “fabricated” allegations and called it a “smear campaign” against him. However, Katie denied being “angry and vengeful” towards him.
The jury, made up of four men and six women, returned the verdicts after 14 hours and 55 minutes of deliberation.

The former glamour model denied having “any venom” towards her ex-husband and claimed their split was “amicable”. She also denied being “angry and vengeful” towards ex-husband Kieran Hayler, adding she had not read any media reports of his trial because she had been “handcuffed to Suella Braverman all week” in a Channel 4 show.
Katie also accused Kieran’s lawyer of “discrimination” and trying to “turn this case against me” during an angry exchange.
She told Hayler’s lawyer Arlette Piercy: “It was all wrong what he did. He’s just a wrong’un, I know he’s done stuff with the (complainant), I got the messages. You shouldn’t turn this case against me. The real reason why we’re here is what he’s done to a child, not me.”
In a heated exchange, Katie asked Ms Piercy: “Are you calling me a liar?” Ms Piercy replied: “I am.”
An angry Katie responded: “I don’t need to be here. You can see in black and white something’s gone on. I wont have anybody call me a liar.”
After Ms Piercy then referenced “cocaine and booze benders”, the reality star replied: “That’s discrimination. Everyone knows I self-medicated on coke due to Kieran introducing it. You are wrong and trying to discriminate me. The press know it all because of my journey. I ended up in therapy and tried to kill myself twice.
“You’re not going to slander my name. I don’t care if you are a barrister, you are not going to slander my name like that. I don’t need to sit here like a therapy session.”
During his appearance in court, Kieran told jurors he thought his ex-wife was “coaching” the 13-year-old girl he was accused of raping.
Giving evidence, the former stripper denied the allegations and said: “I believe they’ve been fabricated.” He told the trial that “trust had gone on both sides” of his marriage by mid-2013, and he admitted affairs with three other women during their relationship.
He told jurors “I am attracted to older women” and that all his significant relationships had been with older women. Kieran also said Katie was also unfaithful during their relationship.
Kieran also claimed he made up having a sex addiction after Katie and her management “created a narrative” to generate headlines and income from the publicity.
His ex-partner Michelle told the court that Katie made “numerous threats”, more than 60, to both herself and Hayler during their seven-year relationship.
Asked about the threats, she said they were made over the phone or on video calls, and included phrases like “I’m going to ruin you Kieran, I’m going to ruin Michelle.”
She added: “All the time she’ll be throwing out threats ‘I’m going to make everyone think you’re a paedo’.”
Michelle also referred to a “pornographic Christmas card” sent to her mother’s address with explicit pictures of Hayler on it and signed “Happy Christmas from a friend or something like that,” she said.
