Katie Price is said to have tried to bail Lee Andrews out of prison and initially thought that the amount was going to be a lot lower before a further charge emerged
Katie Price reportedly tried to bail Lee Andrews out of prison before it emerged that she would need to pay six figures for his release.
The ex-glamour model, 47, tied the knot with Dubai businessman Lee in January just a fortnight after she met him. The pair have rarely been out of the spotlight since, with Lee being accused several times over of being a conman, but things really took a turn when he failed to board a flight to the UK for what would have been their first joint interview as a couple on Good Morning Britain.
What followed was a mad two weeks of speculation of his whereabouts before Katie revealed she had spoken to her husband, and claimed he had been taken to Al Awir prison on suspicion of espionage before it emerged that he had been detained on a “civil matter,” and she flew back out to Dubai.
According to a new interview, Katie was originally told she would need to pay £6,500 to the authorities for Lee’s release and, The Sun reports, that she went straight to the courthouse with her credit card and the two case numbers relating to her husband.
However, it was here that she was told that there was another case awaiting a court date, this time relating to property, surrounds her husband and she would therefore need to pay £140,000 for his release.
The outlet explained that Katie declined to pay then, and in her first interview regarding the whole saga, she insisted that despite rumours that it was all a ploy for publicity, it was all a genuine situation that she had found herself in.
She said: “This is real, this is real life; this is my life It has been a tough few weeks, don’t get me wrong. But I’ve still stayed strong through it all, and I have a smile on my face. So, in this situation, I’m doing what I want to do, and I’m out here in Dubai, because I’m here to help Lee.
“Some people might not like my choices, but I’m not living for everyone else. I know people have been calling me stupid, I see all the trolling, I hear it. I am not stupid.”
Over the months, since they first met on social media earlier this year, fans have watched on as Katie met, got engaged and married Lee all within a few weeks of each other. From there, she flew out to Dubai multiple times but he has failed to come to the UK.
Lee has denied claims that he has a travel ban and cannot leave the UAE, but Katie has seemingly hinted he does have some sort of travel restriction. Katie’s family have stood by her throughout, but her sister Sophie has made her feelings clear on the marriage.
The Mirror broke the story that Lee had already been in prison and we also confirmed that much of his claims including his alleged connections with the royals and the Labour Party were not true.
