Love Island’s Scott van-der-Sluis and Leanne Amaning have hit back at split rumours that started after they spent some time apart, telling fans that the speculation is ‘annoying’

Two Love Island stars have slammed speculation about their relationship as ‘annoying’ as they address split rumours. Scott van-der-Sluis and Leanne Amaning met on All Stars series three were recently asked if they are still together, after the two spent some time in different countries.

In an Instagram Q&A, Scott, 25, and Leanne, 28, responded to the speculation. At first, they joked that they had split up and “couldn’t hack it”, but then Leanne expressed her frustration at being asked about their relationship status.

“That question is so annoying, because, like, why wouldn’t we be together?” Leanne said. Scott, who was next to her, added that he “didn’t even want to address” the speculation they’d had over the past couple of weeks, because it was so ridiculous to him, but Leanne said: “I was going to say, let’s just clear up the break-up rumours.”

Scott then insisted that they had “not been close to a break up”, despite recently spending time in different countries. He said that “nothing’s happened” other than Leanne going to Greece without him.

Leanne explained: “I was on holiday with, like, the girls. You were in Wales, where you live. We are a long distance couple, we’re not always together. Sometimes, we might not post together because we don’t live together. We are long distance. It doesn’t mean we’re not together.”

Leanne first appeared on Love Island in 2020, when she took part in series six. The TV star, who also has a masters in occupational psychology, was an OG islander on her series but left after just over two weeks.

Meanwhile, Scott, a footballer for Bangor City, was on the 10th series of Love Island in 2023, entering as a bombshell and making to just a few days before the final, when he and his partner, Abi Moores, were dumped by the other Islanders. Less than a month after leaving the villa, he joined Love Island USA and was eliminated in a week. He then took part in Love Island Games but was dumped after three days, appearing in three different versions of Love Island in three months.

In early 2026, both scott and Leanne appeared in All Stars and coupled up quickly. They reached the final and finished in third place, as Samie Elishi and Ciaran Davies took the win, with Millie Court and Zac Woodworth coming second.

Though it has only been a few months since the show eneded, Scott and Leanne are one of just three couples to still be together from the season. The other two are Lucinda Strafford and Sean Stone, and Whitney Adebayo and Yamen Sanders.

Samie and Ciaran, despite seeming strong during the season, broke up shortly afterwards. Samie has gone on to date fellow Love Islander Tyrique Hyde, who regularly takes part in the show’s spin-off Aftersun. The pair recently went to Majorca for the Love Island final, but Samie was escorted away from the villa.

She said in a social media post: “It all kind of took a turn for the worse because we go told that we weren’t actually allowed to watch the show.

“Before anyone starts asking why in the comments – we don’t know. There was no explanation, three of us did actually have seats in the audience but they just got taken away. Then we got escorted back to the holding villa.”
