Andhra Pradesh BJP president P.V.N. Madhava Pradesh BJP president P.V.N. Madhav has called for a huge procession with ‘Dappu’ artists in Vijayawada on Sunday evening to promote the ideals of Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
Madhav said the BJP had taken up a programme aimed at promoting the self-respect of Dalits and noted that several artistes had dedicated their lives to traditional drum performances. He said the party would work for the welfare of such artistes.
Referring to the installation of the Dr B.R. Ambedkar statue in Vijayawada during the previous YSRC regime, Madhav claimed that people were under the impression that the project was executed by the then state government. He, however, said the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had allocated `430 crore for the project.
He said several senior NDA leaders, along with Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, would participate in the procession.
