Madonna has earned her highest-charting single in 17 years after releasing Love Sensation with Kylie Minogue
Madonna has a lot to celebrate as she landed her highest-charting song in the UK in 17 years, thanks to her duet with Kylie Minogue.
Love Sensation became the second single from the 68-year-old’s new album, Confessions II, and she collaborated with the Lucky singer, 58, for the remix, which was released on August 6.
Fans were clearly thrilled to have the pop icons on the same track, as it debuted at number eight on the official singles chart – cementing Madge’s highest position since 2009.
It wasn’t quite enough to budge Sam Fender and Olivia Dean from the top spot, as Rein Me In claimed its 21st week at the peak.
Madonna also extended her run as the female artist with the most top 10 singles in chart history, with Love Sensation marking her 65th. Only two artists in history boast more UK Top 10 singles – Cliff Richard with 68, and Elvis with 76.
The Vogue superstar dropped her latest album onto the world last month, and it swiftly soared to the top of the charts around the world, including in the UK, US and Australia.
Celebrating her success on Instagram at the time, she penned: “Words cannot express how Grateful and Surprised I am by the incredible reception Confessions on a Dance Floor has received !!
“Thank You – to everyone who has been a part of this and who has helped make this dream come true. Especially my fans. The Goodwill and positivity has been incredible. I’m still pinching myself.
“I can’t believe it’s # 1 all around the world. My dream was to make people dance this summer!! To bring people JOY! Dreams do come true. Thanks and love!”
Madonna has been having a whale of a time with the promo for Confessions II – the follow-up to her huge 2005 album. Earlier this year, she shut down Times Square in New York for an incredible show.
At the beginning of July, she teamed up with Grindr to transform London into her own personal dancefloor with an album listening party at Magazine, with Kate Moss, Ashley Roberts, Daisy Edgar Jones and Jaime Winstone all on the guest-list.
Just days ago, the Queen of pop sent fans into meltdown as she popped up at World Pride in Amsterdam – where she was joined on stage by Kylie.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the beautiful Kylie Minogue….the lady in purple is here,” she declared, introducing her pal to the crowd.
Embracing the Neighbours actress, she added: “I’m so happy to be here with you Kylie, thank you, I love you.”
