Queen of Pop, Madonna, brought New York to a standstill with her surprise concert to celebrate her album, Confessions II – and now she might be performing in the UK
UK Madonna fans are in for a treat after her jaw-dropping performance in New York. The Queen of Pop, 67, brought the Big Apple to a standstill this week with her surprise concert to celebrate her album, Confessions II.
Clad in a silk corset, knee-high silver boots and electric blue wraparound sunglasses, the mum-of-six, sent fans into a frenzy stateside to launch her highly-anticipated album. Madonna’s daughter, Mercy, was in the crowd packed full of excited fans, who were regaled by Madge, who writhed around on stage in pink stockings and a blue bra, looking years younger than 67.
Brits were miffed that they’d missed their chance to see the music icon perform, however, they needn’t worry as it’s been reported that Madonna will be winging her way to the UK to for a series of select shows.
Despite admitting that a full-scale tour was not in the pipeline, a source told The Sun: “Performing is everything to Madonna and she is going all out to make sure this era is one of her greatest.
“Her last run of shows were all about her legacy, but now she’s reinvigorated to be an innovator.
“She’s currently mulling over a number of live show options for a handful of dates.
“A full-scale world tour is not in the works.”
Madonna’s last global tour was three years ago, when she kicked off her delayed 81-date Celebration Tour with four nights at London’s O2 in October 2023.
It is believed that Madonna’s long-time touring partner Live Nation, who have helped pull off some of the world’s biggest tours, are onboard with the project.
Madonna made sure all eyes were on her at her surprise Times Square pop-up gig on Thursday to celebrate Pride Month, as well as her upcoming album, Confessions II.
The pop superstar took to the stage in the middle of New York City with an impromptu performance courtesy of dating app Grindr, and put on a eye-popping display much to the delight of her fans.
She couldn’t resist getting steamy during the gig, straddling a speaker at one point, before swinging a leg over a barricade, making sure she put on a show alongside “dancers, a DJ and a rotating stage” – according to onlookers.
The setlist included classic tracks Hung Up, Get Together and I Love New York, as well as I Feel So Free, Bring Your Love and Love Sensation from Confessions II, which is released next month.
The star’s saucy stunt quickly went viral after footage flooded social media. In a post from X, she was seen precariously perched at the edge of the stage, singing her heart out.
Fans took to social media to give their view on the performance as one commented: “Madonna still causing discourse while people half her age can’t get 10 likes.”
