Visakhapatnam: BJP Legislature Party leader and Visakhapatnam North MLA Penmetsa Vishnu Kumar Raju has urged the state government to postpone the reopening of schools in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
In a letter to the government, the MLA noted that schools are scheduled to reopen on June 12 and pointed out that June 13 and 14 would be followed by the weekend.
Citing the prevailing heat conditions across Andhra Pradesh, Vishnu Kumar Raju suggested that the government consider reopening schools from June 15, June 17 or a later date, depending on weather conditions, to provide relief to students.
He also urged the authorities to ensure that all basic infrastructure and facilities in schools are in proper working condition before the reopening.
The MLA said officials should verify the functioning of ceiling fans, availability of drinking water, condition of toilets, lighting facilities and overall cleanliness on school premises to ensure a conducive environment for students.
