Madonna was promoting her new album with Grindr when she was asked to name the best lover – and she did so with one rather notable caveat
When recently asked to identify her best-ever lover, Madonna explained she’d only rank those who’ve passed away.
The Material Girl is promoting her latest album, Confessions II, through a partnership with Grindr. Rather than embarking on a traditional press tour, she created a video alongside playwright Jeremy O. Harris, Bob The Drag Queen, dancer Ivy Mugler, designer Raul Lopez and ID’s Marcello Gutierrez, who posed the questions.
Page Six obtained the footage ahead of its official release, and in one exchange, Raul asked Madonna who her greatest night of passion was with. “I’m only going to name dead people,” she replied.
She then covered her mouth and whispered, “John Kennedy Jr” – prompting a collective “Shut upppppppp!” from the group. “Mmm hmm,” Madonna confirmed. “You’re the third person I’ve heard say that,” said Lopez.
John F Kennedy Jr – son of the US President John F Kennedy – was a businessman and magazine publisher who died aged just 38 in 1999. The pair dated very briefly in the late 1980s.
“Madonna was totally a fling,” one of Kennedy’s close pals said in JFK Jr: An Intimate Oral Biography by RoseMarie Terenzio and Liz McNeil, published in 2024. “Nothing more. Barely a fling at that.” It was “all about physical attraction, it wasn’t going to be anything beyond that,” the source claimed.
The video will be accessible on Grindr’s in-app media platform Grindr Presents as well as on its YouTube and Instagram channels. The app firm is also releasing limited-edition, picture-disc vinyl versions of the new album.
Madonna was recently seen putting up posters promoting her album late at night in east London, as she posted an Instagram video documenting the experience.
In the video, Madonna alongside two men can be seen plastering posters for the new work across London, including the capital’s eastern hotspot Shoreditch. The video is set to ‘Bring Your Love’, her duet with Sabrina Carpenter, and was captioned: “Did you find yours?” As well as seeing Madonna with glue and a brush, fans were delighted to see the poster reveals there are 12 tracks on the album.
This includes one called ‘Danceteria’, named after the legendary 80s New York nightclub. While there are expected to be a number of features on the album, the track list doesn’t name them – including Sabrina Carpenter.
