Mainz just lost out in their most recent Bundesliga match against Bayern Munich, a late comeback wasn’t enough to get more than the 2-1 result.
Star player Nadiem Amiri admitted that Mainz had initially believed they had equalised shortly before half-time, before the goal was ruled out for offside.

“We thought the goal counted. The referee had already given it. But, well, offside is offside,” the midfielder explained.
Despite the defeat, Amiri was satisfied with Mainz’s overall performance and believes the team can build on their display against the Bundesliga leaders.
“We did well. I don’t come away from this game with a bad feeling, and that’s something we can build on,” he said.
The midfielder also addressed his absence from Germany’s latest squad. Despite the disappointment, Amiri is looking forward to using the upcoming break to recover before returning to club action.
“The days off will do me good, and I can recover. But, of course, you always want to be part of the national team,” he admitted.
