Marginalised Telangana Students Crack NEET UG

HYDERABAD: Overcoming financial hardships, students from marginalised communities and remote regions of Telangana have cleared NEET‑UG 2026.

G. Srinivas, who secured 41,340 rank, a native of Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district, said he dreamt of becoming a doctor since childhood but only learnt about the BiPC course and NEET exam in Class 10. “As my parents cannot afford private college fees, the social welfare institution has helped me a lot academically and financially,” he said.

Kommu Sharon Rose, who secured all‑India 6,181 rank, said her parents and grandparents always wanted a doctor in the family. “I worked hard to fulfil their dream and also inspire others. My rank is the result of my hard work,” said Rose, an Achampet resident.

A. Praneeth, who secured AIR 38,138, said he studied in a private school till Class 10 before joining a welfare institution due to financial difficulties. “Doctors are respected for the service they provide to society. That inspired me to prepare for NEET, and today I have cleared the exam,” he said. Another student, Ch. Naga Chaitanya from Bhupalpally district, said his parents are farmers and his interest in science during Class 9 motivated him to pursue medicine.

More than 333 students of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) are expected to secure admissions to MBBS, BDS and allied medical programmes.

Social Welfare minister Adluri Lakshman Kumar said under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, education has emerged as the foremost instrument of social justice and inclusive development. BC Welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar congratulated the achievers.

A total of 176 students from BC residential institutions also excelled in NEET UG. Compared to last year, more students qualified, with over 25 likely to secure MBBS seats and more than 70 expected to join BDS, Veterinary, Homeopathy, Ayurvedic and Unani courses. Successful candidates include B. Himani (490), G. Supriya (485), M. Shivathmika (473), B. Kalpitha (466), G. Harshini (450), K. Sai Sonika (449), M. Gautami (448), S. Snigdha (432), P. Trisha (424), K. Shravan Kumar (417) and others.
