Andy Green is sticking around after all.
Green, who had been saying he would move back into the front office after the season, has done an about-face and agreed to a three-year contract as the Mets’ permanent manager.
Green has led the Amazin’s to a 37-37 record since taking over as interim manager for the fired Carlos Mendoza in June.
“Andy has connected with and pushed our players to perform, despite the disappointment of the season,” owners Steve and Alex Cohen said in a statement. “Over the last several months he has brought discipline, accountability and positivity to the clubhouse, attributes we were seeking in our next manager. We want to congratulate Andy, his wife, Jessica, and their three daughters. We are excited for his continued leadership in the dugout.”
