MLA Seeks Funds for Pending Irrigation and Development Works

Kakinada:Rajanagaram MLA Bathula Bala Ramakrishna has urged the government to sanction funds for pending irrigation and infrastructure projects in his constituency.

The MLA submitted a representation to in-charge district collector and joint collector Y. Megha Swaroop at Rajamahendravaram on Saturday, seeking early approval and funding for several development works.

Among the proposals, he requested re-sanction of the Ava Canal development work from Purushothapatnam to Chekuru at an estimated cost of Rs 140.22 lakh. He also sought release of `14.20 lakh from the District Mineral Foundation for excavation of the new Venkatanagaram Pumping Scheme canal within Pallakadiyam limits to support farmers.

Bala Ramakrishna further requested allocation of `20 lakh under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds for desilting, bund strengthening and repairs to the village tank at Kanupuru in Korukonda mandal. The tank serves an ayacut of 62 acres.

The MLA also sought widening of the road leading to the Korukonda Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at an estimated cost of `3.60 crore. He requested a revenue survey and removal of encroachments to ease traffic congestion during temple events, including the Kalyanotsavam and Rathotsavam.

He appealed for a no-objection certificate from the Forest Department for widening the 5.20-km road connecting Srirampuram and Police Quarters Road, which passes through the Diwancheruvu Reserve Forest and requires 1.64 acres of forest land.

The MLA also sought removal of weeds from Burada Kalva at Srirangapatna to improve water flow for agricultural purposes.

Later, Bala Ramakrishna held a meeting with farmers at Korukonda and assured them that efforts would be made to clear the weeds from Burada Kalva at the earliest.
