Vijayawada:Senior Telugu Desam leader and Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Thursday criticised YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy over the latter’s proposed “MaViGun” capital.
“This is the latest example of Jagan Mohan Reddy repeatedly changing his stand on the state capital,” Chandramohan Reddy remarked.
Addressing a press conference at NTR Bhavan, the TD’s central office in Mangalagiri, the Sarvepalli MLA maintained that the next Assembly election would be fought on the performance of the coalition government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the YSRC’s record in office.
Chandramohan Reddy alleged that the YSRC president, when in opposition for the first time, had supported establishing the capital between Guntur and Vijayawada and sought more than 30,000 acres for its development. After assuming office, he proposed a three-capital policy, with Visakhapatnam as the executive capital. Now, he is suggesting the MaViGun concept.
The Sarvepalli MLA emphasised that the latest proposal would affect nearly 50,000 acres of pooled land, investments worth thousands of crores, educational institutions, banking establishments, and infrastructure created in Amaravati.
In addition, Chandramohan Reddy said the passage of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in Parliament reaffirms Amaravati as the state’s capital.
The Sarvepalli MLA claimed that 97 infrastructure projects worth ₹57,821 crore are already under execution in Amaravati, as part of coalition government’s focus on infrastructure and investments in the capital region.
