
BHOPAL: A 70-year-old man in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district was allegedly beaten and then forced to drink urine by a mob of around a dozen people over his son eloping with a woman, his lover.
The woman hailed from Shamshabad in neighbouring Vidisha district.
According to the complaint filed in a local police station in Raisen district, the mob stormed the alleged victim’s house in Agariya Markho village and assaulted him and his wife before taking him in a vehicle at around four am on the pretext of finding the couple.
Mr. Banjara was allegedly taken to Biaora in Rajgarh district in Madhya Pradesh, around 150 km away from his village, and beaten there mercilessly and later forced to drink urine from a bottle.
The incident was filmed and the video was made viral on social media, according to Mr. Banjara.
Later, the accused threw him in front of his house and fled, the complaint alleged.
His elder son and daughter-in-law were not present at the house when the incident took place, according to Mr. Banjara.
Mr. Banjara took the names of 12 people who allegedly tortured him.
He lodged a complaint in the Raisen police station against the accused, according to him.
He has also taken up the matter with the Madhya Pradesh director general of police seeking justice.
Mr. Banjara claimed that he had submitted the video to the police.
Raisen sub-divisional officer of police (SDOP) Pratibha Sharma said that the complaint was registered.
Police launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.
