BHOPAL: President Draupadi Murmu on Saturday arrived at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh on a three-day visit to the state.
She arrived at the Dumna airport in Jabalpur by a special Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft from Kalaikunda in West Bengal in the evening.
She was received at the airport by Madhya Pradesh governor Mangubhai Patel and chief minister Mohan Yadav.
President Murmu is scheduled to attend the state-level celebration of the 12th International Yoga Day, to be held at the Garrison Ground in Jabalpur on Sunday, as a chief guest.
Governor Patel and chief minister Yadav and a number of his ministerial colleagues are scheduled to participate in the event.
Around 5,000 civilians and 3,400 students of 31 schools in the state are going to take part at the event.
President Murmu is also scheduled to attend the 36th annual convocation of Rani Durgavati University at Jabalpur later in the day, as a chief guest.
Governor Patel and chief minister Yadav are also scheduled to attend the occasion.
According to an official press release issued here in the evening, president Murmu will leave for Gwalior from Jabalpur after the university convocation.
She is scheduled to travel to the Kuno National Park (KNP) in Sheopur district from Gwalior by an Indian Air Force (IAF) chopper on Sunday evening.
She will spend Sunday night at Palpur under the Kuno National Park.
She will visit the cheetahs, brought from Botswana, kept in the acclimatization enclosures in the Kuno National Park, on Monday.
She will also review the progress in the cheetah project.
She will then go on a cheetah safari in the Kuno National Park and later interact with the ‘cheetah mitras (friends)’, cheetah monitoring team and guides of the wildlife sanctuary before winding up her three-day visit to the state on Monday.
