Michael van Gerwen could face ‘The Magpie’ William O’Connor as he chases a third Elten Safety Shoes European Darts Grand Prix crown in Sindelfingen.

The Dutch star opens his challenge against either O’Connor or Michael Unterbuchner, while Gary Anderson will begin his bid for a third consecutive title against Niko Springer or Robin Masino.

The fifth European Tour event of 2026 will see a 48-player field competing for the £35,000 top prize in Sindelfingen from April 17-19, as Anderson prepares to take centre stage once again at the Glaspalast.

The two-time World Champion has not featured on the European Tour circuit since February’s Poland Darts Open, but will be amongst six former European Darts Grand Prix winners in action this weekend.

Friday’s opening round will feature 16 matches across two sessions, with German star Springer pitted against his fellow countryman Masino, who will make his big stage debut on home soil.

Former champions Rob Cross, Peter Wright and Kim Huybrechts will also star on Day One in Sindelfingen, along with 2019 winner Ian White – who replaces Ryan Joyce in the field.

Scottish star Cameron Menzies and five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld go head-to-head in another high-profile clash.

Australian No 1 Damon Heta takes on Latvia’s premier player Madars Razma for a place in round two, with former Masters champion Joe Cullen pitted against Maik Kuivenhoven with the winner to face top seed Gian van Veen.
