Hyderabad: The National Disaster Management Authority will conduct a nationwide test of the Cell Broadcast Alert System on May 2, 2026.
The exercise will cover Delhi-NCR and all state and Union Territory capital cities, excluding border areas and poll-bound states. During the test, citizens may receive emergency alert notifications on their mobile phones, accompanied by a loud sound or vibration. The NDMA clarified that the alert is only a test to assess the effectiveness of the system and there is no emergency situation. No action is required from the public upon receiving the message.
The exercise is aimed at strengthening emergency communication systems and ensuring timely dissemination of critical information during disasters. Citizens have been advised to remain calm and inform others about the planned activity to avoid confusion.
