Yesterday, Adam Schefter reported that the man from a whole Pack of Badgers, Russell Wilson, interviewed for the head coaching job at NC State. This was such a bizarre piece of news that I checked like five times to make sure I wasn’t getting fooled by one of those impersonator accounts on Twitter.
There doesn’t seem to be much to this, at least judging from the non-reaction on the NC State end of it, but even so, what would be the point of interviewing Russell Wilson at all? The only idea more risky than hiring a football celebrity with no college coaching experience is hiring a football celebrity with no coaching experience whatsoever.

Just an odd development. Did Bill Cowher do this? Is this Bill Cowher’s fault? He’s consulting on Boo Corrigan’s search and works alongside Wilson at CBS, so maybe he helped facilitate the meeting. Dammit, Bill, we don’t need this right now!
