WARANGAL: Professors from National Taiwan University (NTU) visited the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal to explore collaboration in clean energy research, focusing on converting carbon dioxide and organic waste into sustainable fuels.
Prof. Shu-Yuan Pan and Prof. Cheng-Chun He held discussions with faculty and researchers at NIT Warangal on emerging technologies for capturing carbon dioxide (CO₂) and converting it into value-added fuels. They said such technologies could help reduce industrial carbon emissions while supporting clean energy development.
The visiting professors also shared Taiwan’s experience in converting food waste into biomethane, a renewable fuel, stating that the approach aids waste management and contributes to clean energy generation.
As part of the initiative, NIT Warangal organised a seven-day international workshop titled “CO₂ to Fuels” from July 3 to 9. The workshop saw participation from around 50 attendees, including faculty, research scholars, students and industry representatives from across the country, focusing on advanced carbon utilisation and clean energy technologies.
NIT Warangal director Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi said international collaboration was important in addressing challenges such as climate change, environmental pollution and increasing energy demand.
The programme was coordinated by Prof. Leela Manohar Eshala and Prof. Rajesh Khanna Gaddam, who emphasised the need to strengthen global academic partnerships in sustainable energy research.
