No surprises in crossover rounds in Rio Maior

There were no surprises in two crossover rounds at the World U18 Championships in Rio Maior, as all the favorites advanced to the quarterfinals.

Greece was the only team from Division 2 to make it to the Top 8, which was anticipated. After securing 1st place in its group, Greece faced Canada in the first Crossover Round and triumphed 30:9. Today, Greece competed against China, which finished 4th in its group in Division 1. The outcome was similar to the previous match, with Greece winning 30:8, thanks to four goals from Angelopoulos.

Serbia achieved its first victory at the tournament. It beat Turkiye 19:12 in the Crossover Round II. After a 4:4 first quarter, Serbia dominated in the middle two periods and entered the final quarter leading 12:7.

Italy and Hungary beat their opponents with almost identical scores. Hungary defeated New Zealand 25:13, and Italy secured itself a spot in the quarterfinals, with a 26:13 victory over Canada.
