It feels right to cosy up to the open kitchen in this sliver of raw brick and wine-red woods. Seated at the counter you can best enjoy the sloshing and tossing of fresh pasta and the occasional burst of flame as Venice-born chef Omar Ahmed’s congenial team adeptly assemble Italian classics.
An always-on, seasonal set menu offers rare value with three courses (antipasti, primo and secondo) for $69 per person. An extra $10 adds hunks of focaccia to slide through squid-ink risotto, dunk in the cream-and-crunch of a crumbed burrata, or dip into whatever remains of the sweet oily sugo after you’ve spooned up the last of the eggplant parmigiana.
There’s BYO, but at $18 a bottle, you might as well work your way through the almost-all-Italian wine list, which roams the regions at pocket-friendly prices.
Good to know: Aperitivi, including the Noigroni and Noi Spritz, feature Noi’s excellent home-made vermouth.
