New Delhi: The government on Tuesday announced that over 400 infrastructure projects of different ministries, including roads and railways, worth about Rs 20.23 lakh crore have been recommended for approval under the PM GatiShakti initiative. These projects have been recommended by the network-planning group (NPG) constituted under the PM GatiShakti initiative launched on October 13, 2021.
As per the statement released by the commerce and industry ministry, the NPG evaluated over 400 infrastructure projects worth approximately Rs 20.23 lakh crore based on PM GatiShakti principles. “The initiative was launched to develop an integrated infrastructure to reduce logistics costs. All logistics and connectivity infrastructure projects, entailing investments of over Rs 500 crore, are routed through the NPG,” the ministry said.
The ministry further said that the PM GatiShakti digital platform integrated more than 1,800 data layers, covering 58 central ministries/departments and all 36 states and Union Territories. “Data related to land records, ports, forests, schools, railway stations, water bodies, telecom towers, and highways are available on the portal,” it said.
“The platform has also facilitated the development and integration of more than 65 software modules/tools and over 100 mobile and web applications, strengthening data-driven infrastructure planning across the country,” it added.
