Tirupati:The National Sanskrit University (NSU) celebrated Vishu, the Malayalam New Year festival of Kerala, on Wednesday at its Tirupati campus.
Vice-Chancellor GSR Krishna Murthy stressed the need to preserve India’s rich cultural diversity and praised students for showcasing regional traditions, calling it a reflection of national integration. Dean of Academic Affairs Rajanikanth Shukla highlighted the philosophical and seasonal significance of Vishu as a symbol of renewal and cosmic balance.
Proctor and dean of the School of Sahitya and Samskriti Ranganathan noted that Sanskrit studies help connect diverse regional traditions, including those of Kerala. Deans S. Dakshinamurthy Sarma, Krishneshwar Jha and V Venkata Rao, along with Associate Professor K Leenachandra, also addressed the gathering.
Students from Kerala presented traditional cultural performances, adding colour and festive spirit to the celebrations.
