Nurse Violet Yeager’s post from days before her death resurfaces

Sixteen days before her husband murdered her, Violet Yeager wrote a lengthy post on her Facebook account, expressing how happy she was with her family’s new life in Idaho. According to reports, Violet and her husband Richard Yeager had moved there just six months earlier. In the post, she shared how she loved their neighborhood, their new friends, and watching their little boy play with the other children.

In the post dated October 4, 2026, she wrote that they couldn’t be happier with the life they were building. However, things took a turn on October 20, 2026, and Richard Yeager shot and killed his wife before taking his own life. The tragedy left the couple’s young son without either parent, prompting questions about the circumstances surrounding the incident. A part of her post read:

“We somehow picked the absolute best neighborhood, made friends with our neighbors who quickly became our actual friends, and found the kind of community we didn’t even realize we were missing. Watching our little life fall into place here has been pretty special.”

Social media users have pointed out how Violet Yeager sounded genuinely excited as she planned a future for her family. However, the incident has left many wondering whether there were any warning signs that went unnoticed. A part of her post read:

“We are thriving in ways I don’t think we even expected. And it’s not just the big things—it’s all the little things that have come with this move. New routines, spontaneous nights with neighbors, kids playing together, familiar faces, new favorite places, and a community that truly feels like home. Six months in, and we couldn’t be happier with the life we’re building here. So grateful we took the leap.”

The Meridian Police Department was called to do a welfare check at a home at approximately 1:48 p.m. on October 20, 2026. According to a news release issued by the agency, the call was made after “concerns were raised about the well-being of an individual in the home due to a possible domestic violence incident”. Upon arrival, authorities located two deceased individuals at the home.

An investigation led police to believe that “the husband shot his wife before shooting himself.” The woman, identified as nurse Violet Yeager, was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen. According to a press release from the coroner’s office, her death was ruled a homicide.

As for Richard Yeager, the coroner’s office revealed that he died of a single gunshot wound to the head, and his manner of death was ruled a suicide. In a GoFundMe created by nurse Violet Yeager’s sister, Kristin Jenson, the victim’s family shared that they are making arrangements to care for the late couple’s son, named Ty.

The campaign was launched to help ensure that Violeta and Richard Yeager’s son has a stable home and as much love and care as possible following the tragedy. An incident shattered their happy home and left the little boy without his parents. The GoFundMe description read:

“There are simply no words to describe the pain of losing Violet this way. Our family is grieving an unimaginable loss while trying to navigate the many challenges that come with such a sudden tragedy. Above all else, our hearts are with Ty, who deserves to feel safe, loved, and supported as he begins a new chapter of his life.”
