OGC Nice would like to extend the contract of their rising star Djibril Coulibaly (17), said a club official from the Côte d’Azur side to Nice-Matin.
Spotted by Les Aiglons in 2023, whilst he was playing at regional level at the time, the young midfielder has established himself this season as a regular starter in the team managed by Olivier Pantaloni. Having started seven times in the first nine Ligue 1 matchdays since the start of the season, the Pontoise-born player is one of the rising young talents in the French league.

“He’s a first-team regular who doesn’t start every match,” says his sporting director, Roger Ricort. That is why, although his contract currently runs until 2028, the Nice club is now looking to tie him down for as long as possible. However, even if they succeed, keeping him will also depend on results on the pitch.
“We’ll reach an agreement to extend his contract and I hope he’ll pass that famous 70-match milestone for us,” explains a club official, who is already anticipating interest in Coulibaly in the coming months. “If we don’t qualify for the Champions League, we’ll lose him. Because he’s a player of that calibre.”
For Nice, currently eighth in Ligue 1, any hope of keeping the young midfielder will therefore depend on a season of top-class performances, having come within a whisker of relegation just a few months ago.
