Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari are set to share the screen for the first time in Sooraj Barjatya’s upcoming family entertainer, Yeh Prem Mol Liya. The film sees Khurrana step into the iconic “Prem” persona and is slated for a theatrical release on November 27, 2026. While post-production is underway, the film has now also wrapped up its entire shoot in Mumbai.
Sooraj Barjatya returns to the director’s chair
Yeh Prem Mol Liya marks Sooraj Barjatya’s return to the big screen after a four-year hiatus. The filmmaker has built a distinct identity with family dramas such as Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Vivaah and Uunchai.
“Yeh Prem Mol Liya celebrates relationships, family values and melodies, hallmarks of Sooraj Barjatya’s storytelling style but with a contemporary Gen-Z lens,” a source close to the project shared.
Bankrolled by Rajshri Productions in association with Mahaveer Jain Films, the film has generated considerable excitement among its lead actors. Ayushmann and Sharvari have both spoken enthusiastically about the opportunity, with Sharvari calling the chance to work with the veteran filmmaker a dream. She also revealed that she learnt from observing Khurrana’s approach to his craft.
Sooraj, who won the National Award for Best Director for Uunchai, has reunited with composer Himesh Reshammiya for the film. The duo previously collaborated on Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015).
‘One of the greatest storytellers of our times’
Anupam Kher, who has known Sooraj Barjatya since the filmmaker worked as an assistant on Kher’s debut film Saaransh, penned a heartfelt note celebrating their long association.
Kher revealed that the two have collaborated on more than eight films over the years and reflected on watching Barjatya evolve as a filmmaker. “Watching him evolve into one of the greatest storytellers of our times has been a privilege,” Kher wrote.
He further praised Barjatya for preserving the essence of Indian family values and relationships even as the cinematic landscape has changed. According to Kher, the filmmaker has consistently celebrated “Indian families, relationships, compassion and values” without compromising on emotional honesty.
“His films don’t merely entertain, they become a part of our lives,” Kher concluded, describing Yeh Prem Mol Liya as another chapter in Barjatya’s remarkable cinematic journey.
