Over ₹1 Lakh-salaried Govt Staffer Turns Chain Snatcher Held in Kadiri

Kadiri police have arrested Bhukya Ramesh Naik, an electricity department employee, reportedly earning a salary of over Rs 1 lakh, for allegedly snatching a chain from a house help, at Kadiri in Satya Sai district on Saturday. Police recovered the two-tola gold mangalasutra worth around ₹2 lakh from Ramesh Naik, senior assistant working with the AP Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL).

Kadiri DSP J. Shivanarayana Swamy told the media that Ramesh Naik, 42, of Maruthinagar in Kadiri, resorted to snatching chains from women at deserted places to repay his accumulated debts.
He allegedly targeted Paipalli Shanthi, who works as house help from Maggala Quarters of Kadiri. While Shanti was returning from work on April 28 evening, Ramesh Naik, riding a scooter, snatched her gold chain on Hindupur Road and sped away from the spot.
Based on her complaint, Kadiri Town police registered a case and launched an investigation on the directions of Sri Sathya Sai district SP S. Satish Kumar.
Police formed four teams under the supervision of Kadiri DSP J. Siva Narayana Swamy and Kadiri Town circle inspector D.V. Narayana Reddy. Based on CCTV camera footage collected from various locations in Kadiri, police identified Ramesh Naik as the accused and arrested him near the Government Degree College grounds in Kadiri on Saturday morning.
