Adilabad: District authorities are expediting paddy procurement in the erstwhile Adilabad district following recent rains to prevent crop damage and losses to farmers.
Mancherial collector Kumar Deepak directed rice mill owners to speed up unloading of paddy arriving from procurement centres.
During an inspection of procurement centres at Polampalli and Bheemaram on Monday, the Collector reviewed the procurement process and stressed that the procured paddy should be promptly transported to godowns and rice mills.
He instructed millers to ensure that paddy transported from procurement centres is unloaded without delay and said at least 10 to 15 loads should be cleared daily by increasing the number of hamalis.
The collector also said lorries would be arranged to facilitate transportation of paddy from procurement centres to rice mills and storage points.
