Adilabad: Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna on Wednesday criticised Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan over his alleged remarks on Telangana and questioned his silence on BJP MP Tejasvi Surya’s comments on the state’s formation.
Speaking to the media, Vamsi Krishna asked why Pawan Kalyan had not responded to Surya’s remarks comparing Telangana with Pakistan and questioned his position during the Telangana statehood movement.
He said, “Where was Pawan Kalyan when unemployed youth and students sacrificed their lives for separate Telangana and when rulers were suppressing the aspirations of its people?”
Vamsi Krishna alleged that Pawan Kalyan’s stance on Telangana was inconsistent and criticised his political alliances with parties that had opposed the formation of the state.
He said people of Telangana would not accept leaders acting for political gain and would not compromise on the state’s interests.
He added that the Congress had played a key role in the formation of Telangana and would continue to safeguard the interests of its people.
