A man in his 60s was seriously injured after he was hit by an out-of- control car while walking along a footpath in North Beach on Saturday morning.
The incident happened just after 11am on West Coast Drive near Malcolm Street with police claiming that two vehicles crashed before one mounted the footpath and hit the pedestrian.
They said the accident began with a white Ford Ranger utility that lost control, colliding with a blue Holden Frontera station wagon.
The station wagon then mounted the footpath and struck the man, pushing him over a limestone retaining wall into bushes.
The driver of the Holden was not injured but the impact caused “significant damage” to the wall and a light pole that knocked out power in the area.
The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the Ford, a man aged in his 40s, is currently assisting police with inquiries.
Police said they were seeking any witnesses to the incident, along with CCTV or dashcam vision, particularly from anyone travelling in the area at the time.
