On September 30, 2026, it was reported that Indian film producer Vashu Bhagnani was hospitalised in London. The sudden nature of this hospitalisation comes just days after the Income Tax Department conducted searches across 12 locations in Mumbai, all of them linked to Vashu, his son Jaccky Bhagnani, daughter-in-law, and the actress Rakul Preet Singh and Panorama Studios.
There are no confirmed reports as to the cause behind Vashu Bhagnani’s hospitalisation. When probed with questions, he reportedly asked to be left alone.
The Income Tax Department’s search is in relation to an ongoing investigation with respect to suspected financial irregularities of funds being routed internationally, disguised as finance for film funds. A deep-rooted examination is being conducted on any form of cross-border transaction logs and financial records to identify the source of the trail. They are not limited to any type of unsanctioned film projects, shooting expenses, and distribution costs, among many others.
As of now, no official findings have been disclosed and whether any discrepancies in tax violations have been found.
Vishu Bhagnani has an extensive catalogue of work, serving as a producer for a number of notable hits, including the likes of Coolie No. 1 (1995) and Hero No. 1 (1997), both starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor. Other hits also include Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya (1998), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998), and Biwi No. 1 (1999). His son, Jackky Bhagnani, also made his acting debut under Vashu’s production Kal Kissne Dekha (2009), and played lead in many other movies by him.
Vashu Bhagnani is also producing the upcoming Ashwatthama: The Saga Continues starring Shahid Kapoor. There is, however, no official release date for the film at this time.
