We’re off to a slow start with the Small and Family Business portfolio this morning.
Minister Steve Minnikin used his opening remarks to tout the government’s work in this space.
But he also reiterated criticism of the federal government’s changes to capital gains and discretionary trust tax settings, which he said “broke the faith” of many.

After yesterday’s mammoth, late-night session probing child safety and domestic violence prevention, today’s hearing will have more reasonable business hours.
Up today will be Steven Minnikin, whose portfolios encompass small and family business, as well as customer services and open data, along with his officials. Small business will be in focus first.
