Hyderabad:Residents and rail passengers have urged the South Central Railway (SCR) to include Malkajgiri Railway Station in the proposed inauguration of redeveloped stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, following a recent inspection of works at Hi-Tech City station by the general manager.
The appeal comes amid reports that Hitec City Railway Station, redeveloped under the scheme, is proposed to be virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 17. In a representation to the SCR general manager, the train travellers association sought inclusion of Malkajgiri station in the same programme, stating that redevelopment works there have also been completed.
Members of the Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) and Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) said passengers have been awaiting commissioning of the upgraded facilities. They requested the railway administration to expedite the inauguration, enabling the shift of the booking office to the new building and opening of the ladies’ washrooms for public use.
