On Sunday, Ram Charan and Pushpa director Sukumar officially launched their second collaboration, a pan-Indian Telugu project tentatively titled RC 17. Given the duo’s phenomenal success with Rangasthalam, widely regarded as one of the finest Telugu films of the 2010s, expectations are understandably sky-high.
Chiranjeevi Does the Honours
Adding to the occasion, Megastar Chiranjeevi graced the launch event as the chief guest and sounded the ceremonial first clap. The collaboration comes at a time when both the actor and director are riding high on the success of their respective recent projects, Peddi and the Pushpa franchise.
The journey to this film also follows a challenging phase for the RRR actor. Ram Charan recently sustained a serious wrist injury while shooting for Peddi, necessitating a complex surgical procedure. Following a period of medical recovery and rehabilitation, his return to the sets makes the launch particularly significant. Meanwhile, fans on social media have been actively speculating about the film’s genre and storyline.
A Thematic Shift?
The speculation gained momentum after Ram Charan shared a poster on social media, describing the project as “extremely special”. Some fans believe the actor could be portraying a character with divine attributes, although the makers have yet to reveal any details about the storyline. Expectations are already building around another career-defining performance and a drama that could combine emotional depth with a strong cultural setting.
The makers also unveiled a peacock-inspired pre-look poster featuring Ram Charan sporting long hair and a thick beard. Accompanied by the tagline, “You Can Imagine, but beyond everyone’s expectations”, the visual has fuelled speculation that the film could be a departure from the conventional commercial action template. With the Rangasthalam duo back together, fans will be watching closely to see what they have envisioned this time.
