WARANGAL: Authorities at the Ramappa Temple have laid high-quality green mats along the entire pathway from the entrance to the temple steps to protect devotees visiting the Unesco World Heritage site amid the ongoing heatwave from heated stone and sand surfaces. The facility extends from the water points, where visitors wash their feet, up to the sanctum steps, ensuring uninterrupted coverage.

The initiative was taken after officials observed difficulties faced by visitors walking barefoot in extreme heat. Temple executive officer Emmadi Bhaskar said it was distressing to see devotees struggle to access the shrine due to high ground temperatures.

“Given the current heatwave, the walk had become a painful ordeal rather than a spiritual journey. To address this, we have laid down high-quality green mats along the entire pathway and throughout the temple corridors. This initiative ensured that visitors can explore the architectural beauty of this historic Unesco World Heritage site in comfort, allowing for a peaceful and pleasant experience without the physical discomfort of the extreme ground heat,” he said.

Visitors have responded positively, stating that the mats provide relief from ground temperatures that rise sharply during midday. The temple management said the arrangement will be maintained through the peak summer period to ensure visitor comfort.
