Visakhapatnam: Union Civil Aviation minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu on Friday said Srikakulam district is surging ahead in development under the NDA government.
Addressing the district-level “Two Years of Trust – Development and Welfare” public meeting at the NTR Municipal High School grounds in Srikakulam, the union minister pointed out that the prestigious Mulapeta International Port is progressing rapidly. Plans are being finalised for the establishment of an airport in Palasa region.
Rammohan Naidu asserted that the government remains committed to completing the Vamsadhara, Nagavali, Bahuda, and Mahendratanaya irrigation projects. He pointed out that the NDA coalition government has successfully implemented its flagship “Super Six” promises within two years of coming to power. The government remains committed to fulfilling all its welfare promises in a phased manner.
The union minister disclosed that 54 railway over bridges worth ₹3,300 crore have been sanctioned to Srikakulam district, marking a historic achievement. In addition, Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a major investment destination, attracting nearly 25 per cent of investments coming into India. These investments, he said, are expected to generate large-scale employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar presented the district’s progress report at the meeting. He underlined that 75 per cent of infrastructure works have been completed at the Mulapeta Port. He highlighted the implementation of major welfare schemes, including Stree Shakti, Annadata Sukhibhava, Thalliki Vandanam, and Deepam 2.0, under which hundreds of crores of rupees have been directly transferred to beneficiaries.
Those who participated in the event included MLAs Gondu Shankar (Srikakulam), Mamidi Govindarao (Pathapatnam), Nadukuditi Eswara Rao (Etcherla), Baggu Ramanamurthy (Narasannapeta), government whip Bendalam Ashok (Ichchapuram), and Vizianagaram MP Kalishetti Appala Naidu.
On the occasion, beneficiaries of the government’s skill development initiatives shared their success stories. They highlighted how specialised training and foreign language courses have helped them secure employment opportunities with multinational companies.
