If there is one celebrity hairstyle that sums up this season, it’s Margot Robbie’s undone, collarbone-skimming bob with a choppy, brow-grazing fringe. The cut, complete with side-part (Millennials, rejoice!) and a pert ear tuck, was by Cervando Maldonado under direction from Robbie’s long-time stylist, Bryce Scarlett.
The beauty of this slightly wispy fringe is that it can be worn with a centre part or side swept – the key is to keep the texture messy and wavy to create a lived-in look. To boost texture in your fringe, use a barrel tong or narrow-plated straightening iron on a gentle heat to create waves and bends. Try GHD Platinum+ Styler ($439) and finish with a spritz of Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray ($83).
Stylist Philip Barwick says, “While dry texturising products are always going to be a big thing, try for a morning dew feel by raking a little serum through with your fingers.”
This season, ’70s influences are resulting in fringes that prioritise fluidity over bluntness. These soft, airy fringes feature delicate layering and work with both straight and wavy hair. For a longer look, a curtain fringe can be worn with either a centre or side parting, falling in the zone from
just below the brow to the top of the ear. As for a bottleneck fringe, it’s as the name suggests: shorter in the centre and sweeping away to longer sections at the sides.
Micro bangs that rest above the brow are also on trend this season. However, these are not for the
faint-hearted and require some styling prowess. Barwick says, “The Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s-inspired micro fringe can be paired with an up-do for a shot of glam.”
Meanwhile, the shaggy bohemian fringes on the Chloé 2026 ready-to-wear runway were a standout this season, all layered and brow-grazing with a “grown out” feel. (Creative director Chemena Kamali’s mood boards for the show featured Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush and Kate Moss.)
No matter what your fringe flavour, texture is key, with an emphasis on mussed finishes and fringes that can be worn with a centre or side part. And if you don’t want to get the chop, try clip-in
fringes (these are great for experimenting before you take the leap).
One of the best things about having a fringe is that you can easily shampoo and style just your fringe for a quick freshen up.

How long do eyeshadow palettes last?
These little beauties are good investments, as they can last years (though pay attention to the suggested shelf-life). Just keep an eye out for patchy pigment payoff and a film known as “hard pan”, and always use clean brushes. Try Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette ($78).
