One of Real Madrid’s most decorated players, Dani Carvajal, has signed for Getafe.

The right-back left the Santiago Bernabeu in June when his contract expired, bringing an end to his 24-year association with the club.

His final couple of years were disrupted by injuries but he will get the chance to extend his career further after agreeing a deal with Getafe that will see him play for the club until at least the end of the season.

Carvajal won 27 trophies with Real Madrid, including six Champions League crowns, and was a member of the Spain squad that clinched the European Championship in 2024.

Former Real Madrid hero will being ‘experience and leadership’ to Getafe

A Getafe statement read: “Getafe CF has reached an agreement with Dani Carvajal, linking him to the azulón club until June 30, 2027.

“Having been capped 51 times with the Spanish national team and with an extensive career in elite football, Carvajal embarks on a new chapter in his sporting career in the south of Madrid where he will bring experience and leadership.

“From Getafe CF, we want to welcome Dani Carvajal and wish him much success in this new stage. Welcome to the Coliseum, Dani!”

Getafe are 14th in La Liga and play host to Rayo Vallecano on Monday night.

Carvajal can look forward to an emotional return to Real Madrid on January 3.
