Jane Fallon has given a health update following her breast cancer diagnosis, as the long-term partner of Ricky Gervais shared encouraging news from her second surgery
Comedian Ricky Gervais’ partner Jane Fallon shared news from her second surgery a week after sickening fake reports of her death.
The bestselling author, 65, who previously revealed she’d had an op to save her sight, has gone under the knife again after she revealed in March she had been diagnosed with breast cancer following a routine mammogram. Jane, who has been with legend Ricky for over four decades, has kept her followers up to date online since getting the shock news.
She gave a positive update earlier this month as she announced that after having her first surgery to remove the tumour and a margin of healthy tissue. There was more good news to report today as she after previously saying her surgeons have ‘basically got it all’.
She wrote on Instagram: “Little update. So, my 2nd surgery went well. They got the clear margin they need on the original excision, which is great. They did hit a new little patch of precancerous cells on the other side of the new bit they took out but, thankfully, everyone agrees more surgery would be overkill.
“A huge % of pre cancer doesn’t develop into cancer. ‘I saw the oncologist today & we’ve agreed the risks of radiation outweigh the benefits in my case. Which leaves Tamoxifen (or similar) or wait and see (my preferred option).
“I’m very nervous about going the drug route, because I know the side effects can be hideous, but I’m taking all the info on board & luckily there’s no pressure to make a quick decision. So, all good & I’m just looking forward to getting back to normal.”
Her latest update comes just days after she blasted a ‘disgusting’ fake obituary in a post shared to X on Saturday after her cancer diagnosis, making her feelings clear as she slammed AI-generated images, as fake announcements of her death began circulating online.
Taking to X as she made reference to a since-deleted post, Jane penned, ‘I’ve taken the post about the obituary down, because I don’t want people to think I’m upset by it.
“I’m not. p***ed off yes. But more, I just want people to know that any photos you see of me in hospital, looking sad or with tubes sticking out of me are 100% fake – AI generated’.
Fans shared their anger, with one explaining how the ‘obituary’ was originally shared by a page set up as a Ricky fan page.
“It’s a beyond vile page, reported that post and the page itself. It hides under the guise of a RG ‘fan’ and animal welfare! The AI stuff posted is frankly libellous and disgusting! Not something anyone should have to deal with.”
Jane, who is originally from Harrow, North West London, first started dating comedian Ricky in 1982 – after they met while they were both studying at University College London moving in together two years later. These days, they call Hampstead home and the famous dog-lovers share their home with their beloved pets.
