Rob Reiner’s Son, Jack Calls Him ‘Hero’, In His First Statement After Parents’ Death ‘It Enrages Me’

Legendary director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead at their Los Angeles home on December 14, 2025. The couple passed away from ‘multiple sharp force injuries’. It was their daughter who found her parents at their home, and the entire incident sparked a shockwave around.

No sooner was it revealed that it was no one but the couple’s son, Nick, who was connected to the murder. He is currently in custody and pleaded not guilty, due in court next week. It’s been several months since Rob and Michele were killed, and now, their older son, Jack, has released a public statement through his blog. He took to his blog and shared what he had suffered after and during the time his parents were mercilessly killed.

In a Substack post, released on this Friday, i.e. on April 23, 2026, Jack Reiner revealed that his world just collapsed with his parents’ passing. The passing of a parent is something which is a heartbreak for a child, and for Jack, he lost both of his parents together. Rob and Michele got married in 1989 and welcomed three kids, Jack being the oldest.

The 34-year-old revealed that he was at Union Station when he got a call from his sister, who informed him about the passing of their parents. To mention, nearly after six hours, Rob and Michele’s younger son, Nick was arrested in connection to their parents’ death. Jack mentioned going through the toughest time, which is understandable. He expressed his grief over the fact that his parents won’t be there to witness him achieving in life, be it in personal or professional spheres. Sharing that it is like a ‘nightmare’, he could be quoted as saying:

“My parents won’t be at my wedding, they won’t get to hold their future grandchild, and they won’t get to see me have the successful career I’m still seeking. It simultaneously breaks my heart and enrages me.”

Jack further mentioned that he just cannot stop thinking about how frightened his parents must have been when they were being stabbed to death. He further praised his parents for the kind of childhood they had provided to him and his siblings. He mentioned a lot of people don’t have the privilege to be blessed with such parents, who not only were the guiding lights of their lives, but also shared pure love among each other as a couple. He further called his father his ‘hero’, who not only helped him to grow but also to overcome every challenge in his life.

Jack mentioned that his sister will also come forward and release a statement about her side of the story. Speaking more about the same, Jack said that every day is just horrendous for him and his sister, as he feels that it would be easier for them to move on from this tragedy, had it not been their parents. Jack could be quoted as saying:

“When you are not living through a tragedy the specific way Romy and I are, it’s hard to wrap your head around just how horrific this has been. Because they weren’t your parents, it might be easier to move forward or even forget for a moment about what happened that day, but for us, it’s every single day. Every day since then has been horrendous.”
