Hyderabad:Senior IAS officer Ravi Gugulothu took charge as secretary of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) on Monday and began his first day with a review of student welfare, grievance redressal, residential facilities, court cases and pending administrative matters. He took over from Kambhampati Sharada who was holding full additional charge.
Ravi spoke to officers and staff about their responsibilities, pending work and problems they faced. He reviewed the United Welfare Hostel Management System, including student enrolment, records and monitoring of services. Ravi also sought details about Phone Mitra, such as the number of students contacting the service each day, how complaints are recorded and what action follows.
Ravi later met visitors who raised matters concerning retirement benefits, service issues, seats and reinstatement after suspension, and asked officials to examine the representations under existing rules.
During a meeting with department heads, he sought quicker disposal of pending matters and better coordination between wings. He also asked officials to regularly monitor accommodation, sanitation, safety, healthcare, food and the academic needs of students.
