Bengaluru:Observing the developments in the ruling Congress party, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA and Leader of Opposition in Assembly R. Ashok on Tuesday stated Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has mastered politics and the Chief Minister is clever enough to stomp his opponents.
“He is doing the same kind of politics in the Congress party which he did when he was in Janata Dal Secular (JDS),” said Ashok.
He told reporters in Hassan that Siddaramaiah has no intentions of giving-up the post of Chief Minister at the moment and an indication of his plans to stick to power could be observed by taking Ministers close to him to New Delhi. “It is a show of strength by Siddaramaiah,” said the Leader of Opposition.
Ashok was referring to power tussle between Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar wherein Shivakumar insists on transfer of power over an unwritten agreement with Siddaramaiah reached in May 2023. But, Siddaramaiah denied any agreement on transfer of power.
According to Ashok, “I don’t see luck in Chief Ministerial aspirant Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to ascend to the post of Chief Minister” and stated “I don’t even see a future for Shivakumar.”
“Siddaramaiah is strong in the Congress party,” he said and stated “It seems that Siddaramaiah knows ways to tie down Shivakumar. He would return with an empty plate from New Delhi after meeting central leaders.”
