Rushville hosted Greensburg Saturday in the annual Battle for the Ball match. Both games were decided by just one goal, but it was Greensburg leaving town with the two trophies.
The girls opened the day at 10 a.m. and Rushville opened the scoring as AnnaBeth Chastain scored off a corner kick.

The Lady Pirates answered with four goals in the first half. Kennedy Hoyt, Alexis Weber, Addi Williams and Maria Scholle all found the net as the Lady Pirates’ offense forced the issue and took a 4-1 lead to the break at the half.
The Lady Lions were not done. Rushville got a goal from Emily Rouse off the Allysah Whitaker assist and a goal from Natalie Dora off the Alayna Miller assist to cut the final margin to 4-3.
Rushville’s defense kept the Lady Pirates scoreless in the second half with keeper Kalaina Harper recording 13 saves in the game.
Greensburg’s Allie Cruser, Kadence Rich and Rachel Lipps all had one assist in the game. Keeper Peyton Powers had three saves for the Lady Pirates.

Greensburg moves to 8-2 while the Lady Lions fall to 5-6-1.
Pirates 1, Lions 0
After a scoreless first half, the Pirates got a late second-half goal from Lucas Kramer to win 1-0. The Pirates improve to 10-1 on the season. The Lions are 4-8.
Greensburg senior goalkeeper Colin Osborn (4 saves) and the Pirates’ defense held the rest of the game, leading to the fourth straight shutout win for Greensburg. This is the first time in program history that the Pirates have recorded four straight shutout wins in a season. The 10-1 start by the Pirates ties a program record.
Kramer led the Pirates with six shots on goal. Jacoby Miller, Bryson Chilton and Wyatt Yake all had two shots on goal. Parker Yake added one shot on goal.

Lady Bulldogs 9, Jennings County 0
The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Jennings County and posted another shutout victory, 9-0.
Batesville’s Hailee Weisenbach started the morning out by scoring first with a shot at the top of the 18-yard box off an Elia Wade pass. Addie Redding then assisted Wade for back-to-back goals.
Wade then assisted Maddie Prewitt, who took a deep shot close to the left-hand sideline, that sent the ball up and over the keeper and hit the inside net on the opposite side of the goal. Emma Cheek scored her first goal of the season off of a Bailey Feldmann corner sequence. Lilly Richardson ended the half with a goal of her own; Grace Meyer with the assist.

Starting the second half, Reding got on the board off a Prewitt pass. Weisenbach scored again at the top of the 18-yard box, assist by Wade. Prewitt ended the game by finishing an Avi Miller pass that went right across the frame of the goal.
