While it wouldn’t be right to call Floreat humdrum, some pockets of the suburb – like the stretch of Cambridge Street closer to Wembley – were less active than others. And then along comes a handsome stranger like Some day to shake things up.

While many of its calling cards are now par-for-course – streamlined fit out, local art on the walls, a menu that’s both naughty and nice – its offering, circa 2017, was fresh-as and proof of what a good cafe could do to a place.
