Kakinada:Kakinada district police have advised Ganesh idol organisers to complete immersion before nightfall on September 23 and 24 in view of the expected cyclonic conditions.
Kakinada district superintendent of police G. Bindu Madhav appealed to Ganesh Utsav committees and pandal organisers to complete immersion activities before evening over the next two days. He urged organisers and devotees to follow police guidelines and cooperate with the authorities to ensure peaceful and safe conduct of the processions.
A total of 3,707 Ganesh idols are to be immersed in water bodies in Kakinada district, of which 1,011 will be immersed on Wednesday.
Immersion points have been identified at Salt Creek in Kakinada, NTR Beach at Suryaraopeta (Kakinada Beach), Samalkot canal, Uppada, Pampa river at Tuni, Yeleru Reservoir, Polavaram canal, Tandava canal and Thondangi.
Police, revenue, fisheries, medical and health, port, AP Pollution Control Board, municipal corporation, municipalities, panchayats and electricity departments are coordinating the arrangements. The Nagara Ganesh Utsav Samithi is coordinating with organisers.
Nagara Ganesh Utsav Samithi Invitation Committee president Dusarlapudi Ramana Raju and general secretary Rambhala Venkateswara Rao appealed to organisers and devotees to conduct the immersion processions peacefully without DJ sounds, obscene dances or consumption of alcohol, ganja and other drugs.
They said district officials had prepared route maps for the processions and urged organisers to follow them.
Ramana Raju said the Samithi organisers would conduct a harathi with five crore wicks at NTR Beach on Wednesday evening.
