Just under a week ago, the power couple Tushar Hiranandani and Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani made history by winning the National Award for their movie Srikanth (2024). With no delays and celebration time set aside, the filmmaker Tushar Hiranandani and the producer Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani made public their announcement for their future project, Ragda 25.
The film will be based on the Indian Army’s first experimental batch comprising 25 women. Similar to some of their previous filmographies, including Saand Ki Aankh (2019), Srikanth (2024) and Ata Thambaycha Naay (2025), this too will take inspiration from a real-life story. The story will revolve around 25 inexperienced women with a common dream to represent the Indian Army.
Their journey is of great importance, as diligently explained by Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani. As per her, this journey and their success were crucial. If, by some misfortune, their expedition was to fail, the Army could have completely reconsidered its decision to allow women to ever join again. Another key point highlighted was how the training programmes had always been designed around men.
Throughout the course of training the officials began to observe how both the men and women had their own set of strengths with regard to certain tasks. New standards were later developed to help adjust the benchmarks for female officers.
The filmmakers are going all in, and this is seen through the dedication being put into research. The makers confirmed having acquired the rights of Anjana Bhaduria, topper of the batch. The casting is close to completion, with the position of a major role yet to be filled.
Nidhi said, “It’s a stunning script. It’s my passion project.” Apart from just Ragda 25, the filmmakers also have two more biopics to bring to life. They do wish to move away from the genre soon after.
When Nidhi was asked about her vision for balancing the commercial aspects of their films with the quality of the story, she said, “I definitely want to go commercial, but at the same time, I also want to keep our DNA intact.”
Ragda 25 will go on floors as soon as the casting is finalised.
