Hyderabad: Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) pipped hosts Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to emerge overall champions at the 11th All India Police Judo Cluster Championship held under the aegis of the All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB) at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, on Thursday.
SSB tallied 203 points via 24 gold, 20 silver and 23 bronze medals, ahead of CISF who aggregated 198 points from their 25 golds, 16 silvers and 25 bronzes. Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) finished third with 139 points — 10 golds, 21 silvers and 26 bronzes.
The Championship brought together 1,600 athletes and officials from 36 Central and State Police organisations, of which 28 organisations secured at least one medal. A total of 470 medals — 119 golds, 119 silvers and 232 bronze medals — were awarded across five disciplines.
SSB won judo ahead of BSF with Uttar Pradesh Police finishing third; Wushu was also won by SSB as CRPF and ITBP ended second and third respectively; CISF men were the taekwondo champions with BSF and Uttar Pradesh Police taking the second and third places while UP Police women took the taekwondo top spot ahead of CISF and Assam Rifles. In Pencak Silat, CISF were the best. SSB finished runners-up and Maharashtra Police ended third. The Assam Rifles were karate champions with ITBP and CISF following them to the podium.
The closing ceremony was attended by Telangana Director General of Police (HoPF) C. V. Anand, IPS, who was the Chief Guest; CISF ADG/HQrs Vijay Prakash, IPS; DIB representative Sambandan S, IPS; NISA Hyderabad Director Harpreet Kaur Sohi, AIPSCB officials and state dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, DGP Anand said such meets go beyond medals, strengthening national integration and building bonds of brotherhood across the forces. In a major announcement, he stated that Telangana Police would be hosting All-India Police competitions in Hyderabad over the next two years. He also appealed to police personnel to make sport and fitness a daily habit, stating that a physically and mentally fit officer serves the nation better.
The CISF thanked the contribution of its stakeholders in making the Championship a grand success. “The support of AIPSCB officials, Sports Authority of Telangana, Government of Telangana, Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), was instrumental throughout the conduct of the event,” it stated.
Highlighting the sports achievements across police forces, Mr Sambandan made special mention of the 11 police personnel who represented India at the Paris Olympics, as well as the phenomenal national tally of 109 medals in 2025-26 national championships and 613 medals secured at the 2025 World Police and Fire Games.
Mr Vijay Prakash said the same hands that stand ready to protect the nation’s borders and critical infrastructure are capable of winning gold medals for India, and expressed confidence that many of the players present would go on to represent the country at events such as Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and the Olympics.
He noted that CISF had recently completed its largest sports recruitment drive, inducting 332 athletes into the force, of whom 179 are women, and that its High Performance Athletes Program had significantly enhanced support to players in diet, training and funding.
