Noted comedian Ali has landed in controversy after appearing in an advertisement for a soap brand called “Ghar.” The commercial triggered backlash on social media, with several viewers alleging that it hurt Hindu religious sentiments, particularly those associated with Goddess Lakshmi.

The controversy erupted after the advertisement reportedly showed Ali performing a style of worship toward the soap product resembling traditional prayers offered to Goddess Lakshmi. The ad also used a musical portion linked to Lakshmi Devi names from the film Devudu Chesina Manushulu, which further intensified criticism online.

Many social media users argued that a senior actor like Ali should have exercised greater caution before participating in content that could be perceived as offensive to religious beliefs. Several people questioned the use of devotional elements and religious references in a soap commercial, while some demanded that the advertisement be taken down immediately.

As the backlash intensified, Ali released an apology video clarifying his stand on the issue. He explained that the controversial portion was inspired by a brief bit from Devudu Chesina Manushulu and said that the Mumbai-based company behind the advertisement had specifically requested its inclusion.

Ali further stated that once people informed him that the content appeared inappropriate and hurt religious sentiments, he immediately contacted the company and requested the removal of the advertisement. According to him, the commercial has now been deleted.

In his apology, Ali said that if the advertisement had unintentionally hurt anyone’s sentiments, he sincerely apologised “from the bottom of my heart.” He also emphasised that there was never any intention to disrespect any religion or deity.
