Hyderabad: The Srisailam reservoir, which had almost reached its dead storage level, has started receiving significant inflows from the upstream regions over the past few days.
At present, the reservoir is receiving 1.52 lakh cusecs of inflows, while there are no outflows. The water level stood at 849.70 feet against the full reservoir level (FRL) of 885 feet. Power generation at both the right and left bank power stations has not yet commenced.
The reservoir is steadily receiving inflows from the Almatti and Narayanpur dams in Karnataka. The storage in the reservoir is increasing by more than 12 TMC per day.
Almatti is receiving 1.03 lakh cusecs of inflows and releasing 1.11 lakh cusecs downstream. Similarly, Narayanpur is receiving 1.11 lakh cusecs and releasing the same quantity. At Jurala, inflows have reached 1.56 lakh cusecs, while 1.52 lakh cusecs are being discharged downstream. Consequently, the water level in the Srisailam reservoir rose to 849.70 feet as of 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Meanwhile, inflows into the Godavari river have slowed considerably. The Sriramsagar Project (SRSP) is currently receiving 10,358 cusecs of inflows. The reservoir’s storage has reached 31.92 TMC, against its full storage capacity of 80.5 TMC. The Kadem Project is releasing 4,000 cusecs, while the Sripada Yellampally Project is receiving 8,326 cusecs of inflows.
